Bahrain (a Kingdom of Bahrain) is a small island country. Actually this is an archipelago of 33 islands and the largest is Bahrain Island.

This is very ancient country. It is believed that this is a land on the ancient Dilmun civilization (2300 BC).

It is interesting that Bahrain was one of the earliest areas which was converted to Islam in 628 AD.
Today Bahrain is high developed and rich country. It has a very high Human Development Index (42nd highest in the world).

The economy of Bahrain was mostly built on oil (that was discovered in 1932) but today banking secotor and tourism get lots of investments and develop rapidly.

The capital of the country is Manama. This is a place of many large financial structures, including the Bahrain World Trade Center and the Bahrain Financial Harbour.

Climate in Bahrain very hot and dry.

Politics. Bahrain is a constitutional monarchy headed by the King, Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.  (More...).

Ecomony. Today Bahrain is one of the world's fastest growing financial centers.

Tourism. Bahrain is a modern and very interesting touristic destination. The country combines modern Arab culture and the archaeological legacy of five thousand years of civilization. Bird watching (primarily in the Hawar Islands), scuba diving and horse riding are popular tourist activities in Bahrain.

Bahrain has one international airport which is located on Muharraq Island.

Road network in Bahrain is well developed. Modern bridges connect islands. So the best way to travel around the country is renting a car and driving around Bahrain side.

Internet is used in Bahrain by more them 55% of population. There are 34 licensed Internet Service Providers in Bahrain and the largest one is Batelco.

Internet censorship in Bahrain is very serious. Many websites and service are blocked. However there is very simple and reliable solution to bypass Internet filters in Bahrain and access sites.

The King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifah

Was born on 28 January 1950 in Riffa, Bahrain.  His parents were Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa who in 1950 was the Crown Prince and Hessa bint Salman Al Khalifa. After attending Manama Secondary School in Bahrain, Hamad was sent to England to complete the remainder of his education. He attended Applegarth College in Godalming, Surrey before taking a place at The Leys School in Cambridge. Hamad then underwent military training, first with the British Army at Mons Officer Cadet School at Aldershot in Hampshire, graduating in September 1968.[1] Four years later in June 1972 Hamad attended the United States Army Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas, graduating the following June with a degree in leadership.
