A lot people now consider golf as a very entertaining sport. Some people may have a hard time in playing this game because golf is not easy and a golf course is not always available in your area. Thus, making your interest in playing golf diminished for a little bit. But, for those people who live in some countries just like in Bahrain, golf is more popular there. There are many golf courses that you can play with that are exclusive to the members of a certain golf club. Golf clubs in Bahrain are now numerous because a big number of the population is now interested in playing golf.

Golf clubs in Bahrain are being established because most of the Bahraini people find golf as a very interesting sport. Some of them even consider it as a hobby so; they intend to apply for membership in some of the golf clubs. Becoming a member in an exclusive golf club will help you in many ways and will also provide you with good benefits and privileges. Some golf clubs offer personal training that will help booster your overall game and increase your love for the sport. Other golf clubs also host some competitions or open tournament in which you can compete with other players from all other golf clubs in the country.

Joining golf clubs in Bahrain is very easy. You just have to fill out a membership form and then choose the membership category that you want. Even though not all membership categories have the same benefits and privileges, you can be rest assured that you can get to enjoy playing the sport in their golf courses as long as you want it. Once a member you can now enjoy some privileges such being able to attend social events being hosted by the club, being invited to an open tournament, being able to play in different golf courses and facilities being offered by the club and you can also get a personalized training for beginners of the game.

Finding golf clubs in Bahrain is no longer a difficult thing to do. You can easily find a golf club near your area. As of now there are more than 10 golf clubs that you can find in Bahrain, not to mention that some golf clubs are soon to be establish to accommodate the ever increasing number of Bahrainis that wants to play golf. Other golf clubs has also expanded their golf courses, making their courses more challenging and fun that it was before. Golf may seem to be a sport for only rich people but the truth is that you don’t have to be that rich in order to play the sport you have to have commitment and love for the game to play it.

Awali Golf Club, Bahrain

Membership of the Awali Golf Club is at the sole discretion of the Awali Golf Club committee.

As we are a golf club, we require all membership applications to be made by persons who do actually play golf, in a reasonably serious way. However, golf competence and potential for brilliance are not relevant to your application.

To apply for membership, you should first complete a Awali Golf Club Membership Application form, available at the BAPCO Club reception at Awali village, or the AGC Clubhouse, and hand it in to the staff at the AGC Clubhouse.

BAPCO employees
As an employee of BAPCO, you are entitled to membership of the BAPCO Club without charge (for this, complete a BAPCO Club Employee Application Form available at the BAPCO Club Reception). However, BAPCO Club membership does not include membership of Awali Golf Club. To become a member of AGC and play the course, the price is BD10 per year (complete the Awali Golf Club for BAPCO Employees application form).

Other individuals

To apply for membership, first complete an Associate-Guest Membership Application form (download here). Good news! Currently, the Club does not have a waiting list for you to become an associate guest member

In order for you to show you do indeed want to play golf, you should pay and play as a visitor as often as possible (your visitor fees are recorded at the Clubhouse each time). These records are reviewed by the Committee on a monthly basis and determine the priority order for applicants.

The Club's season runs between 1st August to 31st July. When the Committee has approved your membership application, the applicable membership fees are dependent on the timing of your application:

As an Associate Guest Member, you have no voting rights at the Club's AGM. However, there is another category of membership, Guest membership, which does have voting rights. The Committee determines if a person is eligible to be transferred from Associate Guest membership to Guest membership (under the rules of the Club's constitution).

If you are applying between the dates of 1st August and 31st January, you are subject to the annual fee of BD250 (single membership) or BD300 (family membership).
If you are applying between the dates of 1st February and 31st July, you are subject to the 6-monthly fee of BD125 (single membership) or BD150 (family membership).

There is no other pro-rata payment scale.

Other company employees

If you are an employee of a company wishing to fast-track your membership application, then offering to provide sponsorship to the Club is a good start. Please leave your contact details at the Clubhouse, asking the Captain to contact you.

Supporting the Club

Finally, as a member, YOU are expected to contribute to the Club's success in a pro-active way.

This means going beyond just paying your subscription fees. Those who volunteer many, many hours of their time, enabling you to enjoy the Club, are more likely to continue to do so if you are not seen as a free-loader (especially a whingeing free-loader). See here for further details of these expectations.

As a member of Royal Golf Club - The Montgomerie Course, I feel that the course design is absolutely ludicrous for the average member. As the only grass course in Bahrain, this is what you call a forced monopoly...you have no choice but to pay and play here. I cannot wait for another course to open and believe me it will not have to do much to better this one - kick Monty's arse for this one!
