What do you think about NEW TRAFFIC FINES AND PUNISHMENTS

Article 47

Those who commit one of the following violations would face a prison term of up to six months and/or a fine of BD. 50 to BD. 500, in accordance with the provisions of this law or with a more severe penalty listed in any of other law.
1.Using the vehicle for a purpose other than that mentioned in the driverís licence
2.Driving a vehicle without a registration certificate               
3.Driving an unlicensed vehicle
4.Driving a vehicle without brakes or with brakes which are unfit to use.
5.Driving a vehicle without a driving license
6.Deliberately blocked or obstructing a road
7.Handing a vehicle to someone who does not hold a license to drive it.
8.Racing a vehicle
9.Using hand-held cellphone

Article 48

Jumping the red light -                                                            Jail Up to 6 months,  Fine BD. 100 to 500

Causing injury in an accident due to overtaking                       Jail 3 Months to 3 Year Fine BD. 1000 to BD. 3000

Causing fatal accident due to overtaking                                  Jail From 6 months Fine BD 2000 to BD 6000

Article 49

Those who deliberately commit one of the following violations would face a prison term of 1 to 6 months and / or a fine of BD. 200 to BD. 500.
1.Faking, defacing or changing the data of registration or number plates.
2.Allowing other people to use oneís registration or number plates.
3.Transferring the number plates from one vehicle to another without permission.
4.Driving a vehicle without number plates or with plates that have been cancelled or defaced.

The penalty would be doubled if the offender again commits any of the above violations within a year from the date of the first sentence.

Article 50

Exceeding speed limit - up to 30% of the limit                         Jail 1 to 3 months Fine BD 50 to 250

Exceeding speed limit - above 30% of the limit                        Jail 1 to 6 months Fine BD 100  to 500

Causing injury and damage due to exceeding speed limit        Jail 1months to 3 years  Fine BD. 1000

Causing fatal accident due to exceeding speed limit                 Jail 6 months to 3 years Fine BD. 2000

Repeating the offence within a year                                          Penalty would be doubled

Article 51

Driving under the influence of alcohol                                      Jail 1 month to 1 year Fine BD. 500 to 1000

Causing traffic accident while driving under the                       Jail 2 month to 2 year

influence of alcohol                                                                 From BD.1000 to 2000

Repeating the offence within a year                                         Penalty would be doubled
