MANAMA: US President Barack Obama was yesterday accused of betraying his Gulf allies if he signs a nuclear deal with Iran.

Criticism is growing in the US that his actions will change the balance of power in the Middle East.

In one damning debate on Fox News, leading political commentator Charles Krauthammer said Obama was offering Iran the possibility of becoming a regional power.

"He is allowing Iran to take over Iraq and ignores their presence in other nations, including Afghanistan," he said.

Krauthammer believes that Obama sees himself as a partner of Iran "even though it will be a betrayal of all our allies, in the Sunni nations."

He gave a stunning and very plausible description of Obama's Mideast policy, one that could lead to the Third World War, as the countries in the region prepare for a possible nuclear disaster.
